Centre for Teaching and Learning hosts the fourth cohort of Nurturing Future Leadership Programme supported by the Ministry of Education

37 faculty members from diverse fields and institutions participated in the programme
1 September, 2025, Bengaluru: The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) hosted the fourth cohort of the immersive Nurturing Future Leadership Programme (NFLP) from August 25 to 29, 2025. The programme was supported by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
Led by senior faculty and leadership at IIMB, NFLP aims to prepare faculty members from higher education institutions (HEIs) for academic leadership roles. The fourth cohort included 37 faculty members from centrally funded, state-funded, and private institutions and universities, representing a wide range of academic fields, including management, technology, planning, plantation, medical sciences, and legal studies.
Speaking on the role of academic leaders, Professor Rishikesha Krishnan, Professor in Charge, New campus, IIM Bangalore, said, “The academic leaders need to play the three roles of Strategist, Organization Builder, and Performer.”
The programme adopted a rich pedagogy that combined lectures, group discussions, case studies, peer sharing, hands-on activities, reflections, and movie-based learning. Sessions were designed around critical themes such as leadership and teamwork, leadership and institution building, negotiation, strategic thinking and planning, institutional legal aspects, fostering equity and inclusiveness, managing unconscious biases, the role of institutional leaders in creating a sustainable society, emotional intelligence, resilience and self-management, decision-making, and communicating for relevance, originality, and impact.
In addition, faculty participants were provided with the opportunity to present and discuss cases specific to their categories of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). These discussions focused on addressing the unique challenges faced by their institutions while exploring potential solutions to enhance academic leadership, institutional improvement, and sustainable growth.
