Corporate Environmental Management in India

Corporate Environmental Management (CEM) involves activities undertaken by corporations to minimise the impact of their activities on both ecology and society. While a broad spectrum of activities ranging from simple measures to manage waste and pollution to proactive measures such as designing and managing products over their life time and disposal to minimise adverse impacts. While CEM implies all of the above this study is limited to voluntary commitment of business to become environmentally responsible by moving beyond compliance as well as shifting its path from reactive to proactive. Research objectives To outline the current status of innovative policy tools that promotes corporate environmental management activities in India To demonstrate and discuss and select voluntary corporate environmental management pathways such as environmental information disclosure and supply chain management approaches that could implemented as strategies by companies of different sizes. To summarize the advantages, outline the major challenges and design an enabling policy framework motive the key decision makers to pursue the issue.
