PGP ’25 students crowned pan-India winners at Rajasthan Royals Case Competition

Akshay Prashant and Akshit Chandra present innovative sustainability and fan engagement strategies for the IPL team

26 December, 2024, Bengaluru: Team BizAcers, comprising Akshay Prashant and Akshit Chandra from the PGP ’25 cohort at IIM Bangalore, emerged as the Pan-India winner at the Rajasthan Royals Case Competitions, held by Rajasthan Royals. The team achieved the distinction by securing first place in two key categories: the Rajasthan Royals Sustainability Case and the Rajasthan Royals Fan Engagement Case, through which they delivered well-grounded, impactful solutions that address some of the most pressing challenges faced by sports franchises today.

Case 1 led the team to present a solution titled “Empowering Rajasthan Royals: Pioneering Sustainability,” which aimed to redefine sustainability in sports, by addressing core environmental challenges and integrating scalable solutions.

Key elements of the strategy, which positioned Rajasthan Royals as the first IPL team to adopt an integrated, green strategy, included: 1) Circular Economy Integration: The proposal focused on recycling old merchandise into eco-friendly products, with a target of reducing textile waste by 60% within three years. 2) Localized Partnerships: The team suggested collaborating with rural artisans and NGOs for the production of sustainable merchandise, which would in turn promote inclusivity and create positive financial impacts within local communities.

For Case 2, BizAcers devised a transformative strategy aimed at deepening the connection between the team and its fanbase through digital innovation and sustainability. The proposed strategy included: 1) Rebranding via the Brand Identity Prism and 2) Localized Fan Engagement.
