Annual student-run Policy Talk series to feature Jasmine Shah

9 January, 2025, Bengaluru: The students of the Post Graduate Programme in Public Policy and Management (PGPPM) programme at IIM Bangalore will host a special talk titled ‘Re-thinking Development: A perspective from the Delhi Model’, as part of the annual student-run ‘Policy Speaks’ series. The event is scheduled for 13 January 2025, at 3:30 pm, in Classroom Q-101, at the IIMB campus. Jasmine Shah, former Vice Chairperson, Dialogue and Development Commission, will lead the session.

The program will commence with an introduction to the session by Prof. Arnab Mukherji, Chairperson, PGPPM, followed by a brief talk by Mr. Shah on ‘The Delhi Model: A Summative Perspective’, which will draw insights from his newly authored book, ‘The Delhi Model: A Bold New Roadmap to Building a Developed India’.

The highlight of the event is a panel discussion featuring Mr. Jasmine Shah and Prof. Arnab Mukherji. The discussion will be moderated by PGPPM students Darvesh Mavi and Nishant Sharma.

Speaker profile

Jasmine Shah served as the Vice Chairperson of the Dialogue and Development Commission, the policy think-tank of the Delhi Government, from 2018 to 2024, and is an Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader. He played a crucial role in shaping many reforms of the Delhi Model in transport, environment, electricity, education and employment sectors.

He was previously the Deputy Director of MIT's Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab, South Asia, and led the nationwide 'Jaago Re' voting campaign at Janaagraha. A graduate of IIT Madras, he holds an MPA from Columbia University, New York, where he was a Fulbright-Nehru Fellow. His columns have appeared in Indian Express, Hindustan Times, Mint and Economic Times.
