The panel discussion, to be moderated by IIMB’s Prof. Vasanthi Srinivasan, will feature Olympic athlete Abhinav Bindra; NIMHANS Associate Professor of Psychiatry Dr. Urvakhsh Mehta and Psychotherapist Dr. Rathna Isaac, as panellists

21 December, 2021, Bengaluru: The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at IIM Bangalore will host a panel discussion titled, ‘Mental Health and Wellbeing’, on January 17 (Monday), 2022, from 06.00 pm onwards, which will be the 9th in the Samiksha series of webinars.

The event, ideal for management educators and students alike, will feature Abhinav Bindra, Founder, Abhinav Bindra Foundation (ABF); Dr. Urvakhsh Mehta, Associate Professor of Psychiatry, NIMHANS, and Dr. Rathna Isaac, Psychotherapist/Relationship Expert/Clinical Psychologist, as panellists.

The moderator for the session will be Prof. Vasanthi Srinivasan, Chairperson, Digital Learning and faculty in the Organizational Behavior & Human Resources Management area of IIMB.

To register for the virtual event, candidates need to click here and fill up the Google form. After they register successfully, they will receive the Zoom meeting link to attend the webinar, one or two days before the session.

About the panellists: 

Abhinav A Bindra is the first Indian to win an individual Olympic Gold (Beijing, 2008). Overall, he has won over 150 individual medals. Recipient of the Arjuna Award and the youngest recipient of the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, he was also conferred with India’s third highest civilian award, the Padma Bhushan, in 2009.

Dr. Urvakhsh M Mehta is an Additional Professor of Psychiatry at the National Institute of Mental Health & Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bangalore. After his MBBS, he obtained his MD in Psychiatry from NIMHANS in 2010 as the best outgoing student of his batch, and subsequently a PhD in 2020. He takes keen interest in public and student engagement on the theme of mental health and its causal underpinnings. He has published his research findings in several national and international peer-reviewed scientific journals and has won awards for the same. He is also the Associate Editor of the journal Schizophrenia Research.

Dr. Rathna Isaac, who has a PhD in Clinical Psychology, is a therapist, supervisor and trainer. She is an external consultant/supervisor for the Couple and Family Therapy Programme at Parivarthan Counselling Training and Research Centre. She has co-written a book on Reflective Practice and Professional Development in Psychotherapy, to be published in early 2022. She has conducted several training workshops for counsellors/psychotherapists as well as workshops for lay people on topics like therapy, gender and lifespan issues.
