IIMB co-hosts G20 University Connect with Research & Innovation System for Developing Countries and Ministry of External Affairs on 15th August
The sessions revolved around global diplomacy within the G20 framework and how India’s youth can leverage the G20 discussions to their benefit
21 August, 2023, Bengaluru: Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), in collaboration with the Research and Innovation System for Developing Countries (RIS) and the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), hosted the G20 University Connect session on 15th August 2023, in the light of the upcoming meeting of the G20 Summit under the Indian Presidency. The event saw insightful discussions on global diplomacy within the G20 framework and the role of India’s youth in leveraging the G20 discussions to their benefit.
Prior to the lecture series, quiz and debate competitions were conducted by the Public Policy Club and Quizzing Club of IIMB, which saw active participation from the student community. These initiatives are aimed at creating a platform for students to engage in thoughtful discussions and emulate the discourse witnessed at international G20 summits.
Speakers at the event shared their views on the importance of Indian Presidency at the G20 Summit. Prof. R. Srinivasan, Chairperson of the two-year fulltime MBA programmes: Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) and PGP in Business Analytics (PGP-BA) and faculty of the Strategy area of IIMB, emphasized how important it was for the youth of the country to be cognizant of India’s role in such events.
The keynote speech was delivered by Shri J S Mukul, former Ambassador of India to the Netherlands and Permanent Representative of India to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). He gave an overview of the G20 summits and explained how the youth can leverage the G20 discussions to their benefit. His talk was followed by an interactive Q&A session with the students.
