IIMB and Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) formally sign a two-year MoU to deliver Exec Ed Programmes on 3rd September 2025

The two-year partnership strengthens leadership development and executive education collaboration
Bengaluru, September 3, 2025: The Executive Education Programmes at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) formalized a two-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in executive learning and leadership development with the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), India’s largest government-owned steel producer, to collaborate on executive education and leadership development.
The partnership is aimed at enhancing the knowledge and leadership capabilities of SAIL employees, equipping them to take on complex business challenges and drive organisational growth.
As part of the engagement, IIMB will offer a mix of open enrolment and customised programmes, with a strong focus on leadership, strategy, and innovation. Designed to combine academic rigour with practical application, these programmes will also feature action learning components, enabling participants to translate classroom insights into real-world solutions and deliver measurable business impact.
Moving beyond traditional classroom learning, the collaboration will leverage a structured Learning Need Analysis (LNA) process to tailor interventions to SAIL’s specific requirements. In addition, the partnership will open opportunities for faculty-assisted workshops, research collaborations, consulting assignments, and the development of case studies that capture SAIL’s unique organisational journey.
This engagement is expected to strengthen SAIL’s leadership pipeline, enhance organisational capability through applied learning, and foster cross-learning by benchmarking with best practices across industries. Importantly, it also establishes a long-term framework for cooperation between IIMB and SAIL, extending beyond training interventions to joint initiatives of strategic relevance.
The collaboration reinforces IIMB’s commitment to contributing to nation-building by supporting public sector enterprises in strengthening leadership and organisational excellence, while enabling SAIL to continue its journey as a key driver of India’s industrial growth.
Key Speaker Sessions
The programme began with Mr. Parthasarathy S, Chief Programme Officer, Executive Education Programmes, IIMB, and Ms. Shambhavi Rao, Senior Manager, Executive Education, IIMB, welcoming the gathering and introducing the necessity of the partnership.
Prof. Padmini Srinivasan, Chairperson, Executive Education Programmes, highlighted the long-standing relationship between IIMB and SAIL, recalling how the partnership began with an Executive Education Programme (EEP) led by SAIL in 2017.
