Professor Rusha Das receives prestigious grant by Zurich University of Applied Sciences
Proposal, ‘Local Environmental Democracy and Green Transitions: Mapping Institutional Mechanisms and Political Mobilisations’ co-developed with Dr. Christine Lutringer
10 July, 2024, Bengaluru: Professor Rusha Das, from the Public Policy area, IIMB Young Faculty Research Chair, co-developed a proposal titled, ‘Local Environmental Democracy and Green Transitions: Mapping Institutional Mechanisms and Political Mobilisations’ along with Dr. Christine Lutringer, Graduate Institute, Geneva. The proposal has been selected for funding, receiving a significant grant by the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) in response to the call for workshops and symposia in February 2024.
As a project partner, Prof. Das’ expertise and contributions will be crucial to the project's success. The workshop and conference for the same will be tentatively held in December 2024.
Prof. Das’ research has primarily focused on analyzing the political dynamics surrounding changes in environmental impact assessment (EIA) regulations in India, utilizing a neo-Gramscian perspective. She was honored with the Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship for a Research Fellowship in 2020-21. During this period, Prof. Das was a visiting scholar at the Albert Hirschman Centre on Democracy (AHCD) at the Graduate Institute Geneva. In her role as a visiting scholar, she investigated modes of citizen engagement and participation within the frameworks of environmental policymaking, with a specific emphasis on EIA in Switzerland.
