IIMB welcomes PGP and PGPBA Class of 2025–2027 on 9 June 2025

New cohort of 622 students marks the largest-ever batch at IIMB
9 June, 2025, Bengaluru: IIMB welcomed the incoming cohort of its two-year fulltime MBA programmes, the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) and the Post Graduate Programme in Business Analytics (PGPBA) 2025-2027 batch, with an inauguration ceremony that was held at the IIMB campus on 9 June 2025. This year, approximately 544 students have joined the PGP, and 78 students have joined the PGPBA programme.
Batch Profile
Prof. Kunal Dasgupta, Chairperson, Admissions & Financial Aid, and faculty in the Economics area, welcomed the students and outlined key details of the incoming class. He congratulated them on clearing what he described as a long, rigorous, and highly competitive selection process. He noted that the 2025–27 cohort is IIMB’s largest ever, with a total of 622 students enrolled across the PGP and PGPBA programmes.
The cohort comprises students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds, including students of four different nationalities.
Prof. Dasgupta also reflected on the evolving profile of IIMB’s incoming batches, particularly the consistent growth in diversity and female representation over the last decade. He encouraged students to appreciate the value of this mix, which he described as one of the Institute’s greatest learning assets.
Address by Chief Guest
The inauguration ceremony featured a keynote address by Indian entrepreneur, investor, and film producer Ronnie Screwvala. Reflecting on his college days, Ronnie noted that he is “more a product of soft skills than hard skills.” He emphasized the power of collaboration, communication, and teamwork, likening his experience in theatre to building leadership capacity and emotional intelligence.
“Soft skills do not have an expiry date. They stay with you. They help you lead, build trust, and connect something that hard skills often cannot.”
Sharing stories from his ventures in media, sports, education, and philanthropy, he highlighted the importance of staying consumer-focused, adapting with agility, and building a values-oriented brand. He encouraged students to abandon the safety net of a ‘Plan B’ and instead, pour themselves wholly into their chosen path.
The address ended with a Q&A session with the incoming cohort, where Ronnie’s candid responses offered further insight into his mindset as a first-generation entrepreneur and lifelong learner.
Welcome address
During the inaugural address, Prof. Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director, IIMB, welcomed the incoming class with warmth and a forward-looking perspective. He reflected on the success of IIMB alumni across diverse fields such as business, government, research, entrepreneurship, and social impact.
He spoke of the importance of cultivating multidisciplinary and transdisciplinary thinking, adding that creativity of thought, critical analysis, and tacit knowledge would be invaluable differentiators in an AI-augmented world. He also urged the cohort to develop execution skills, empathy, and strong people management abilities, noting that interpersonal competence will be as critical as technical expertise.
“Your journey here is not just about building a résumé,” he said. “It’s about discovering your hidden potential, your purpose, and learning how to lead with integrity, empathy, and vision.”
Meanwhile, welcoming the Class of 2025–27, Prof. Manaswini Bhalla, Chairperson, PGP & PGPBA, began with a moment of appreciation for the families whose profound and unceasing support has contributed to each student’s unique journey to IIMB.
“The next two years are about more than academic achievement. This is the place to build lifelong connections, to grow through challenges, and to take ownership of your journey. As students of the 51st batch of IIMB, we hope you will be worthy torchbearers of this legacy”.
Address by SAC President
Revanth Reddy, PGP’26, President of the Students’ Affairs Council (SAC), reminisced his journey at IIMB, as he spoke of the vibrancy of life, where diversity is the biggest asset, learning comes from world-class faculty, and students grow not only through academics but also through sports, cultural exchanges, and peer interactions.
Revanth reminded students that “Every person here is a teacher” and that through peer learning, they will graduate not only as professionals but as individuals with rich, diverse perspectives.
