IIMB welcomes 61 international students to the exchange programme on campus

Participants from 23 management schools across 12 countries were welcomed with an orientation and cultural event
03 September, 2025, Bangalore: The Office of International Affairs (OIA) at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) organized a special orientation and cultural programme to welcome 61 exchange students from 23 leading management schools in 12 countries, who have joined IIMB for Term V of the academic year 2025–26.
Key Speaker Addresses
Delivering the opening remarks, Prof. U Dinesh Kumar, Director-In-Charge, reflected on India’s rich history and diversity, encouraging students to immerse themselves in both academics and cultural traditions. “In India, the journey is not just about material pursuits, but about discovering meaning and joy in life,” he said.
Prof. Manaswini Bhalla, Chairperson, PGP & PGP-BA, welcomed the students warmly, noting: “To be in India is not everybody’s fortune.” She highlighted both the rigor of academics at IIMB and the richness of experiencing Indian festivals and community life.
On behalf of Prof. Rajluxmi V Murthy Chairperson, Student Welfare, Ms. Vidula, Associate Manager, SWO, IIMB, shared the institute’s vision for fostering a healthy campus environment. She emphasized the importance of mental health, access to counselling services, and life-skills workshops for student well-being. She also introduced the nodal points of contact and IIMB’s long-term wellness partners Amaha and YourDOST, who provide continuous support to students. She additionally highlighted student-to-student peer support structures, ensuring international students feel welcomed and included during their stay.
Prof. Rajalaxmi Kamath, Chairperson, Internal Committee, spoke about IIMB’s zero-tolerance policy on sexual harassment and the confidential redressal mechanisms available under the POSH Act.
Revanth Reddy, President of the Students’ Affairs Council (SAC), described the exchange as an experience, inviting students to immerse themselves in India’s diversity of culture, food, and traditions, while actively participating in campus activities and festivals.
Dr. Ravikumar KR, Resident Medical Officer, detailed the health services available on campus, ranging from 24x7 emergency care to OPD consultations.
Mr. Dillip Kumar Mohapatra, Manager of the Computer Centre, provided an overview of IT infrastructure, including high-speed connectivity and round-the-clock support.
Ms. Komala Devi M, Administrative Officer, Hostel, IIMB, introduced the incoming students to the hostel facilities and services. She emphasized the importance of maintaining a harmonious community within the residences and assured them of continuous support for their well-being on campus
The orientation concluded with a cultural showcase organized by the OIA, offering students a vibrant introduction to India’s rich artistic and social traditions, a fitting welcome to their exchange journey at IIMB.
