IIMB welcomes PGP and PGPBA cohort with orientation program from 11 to 24 June 2024
The new cohort takes lessons from alumni, faculty, industry experts and community leaders, serving as a foundation for personal and professional growth
19 June, 2024, Bengaluru: IIM Bangalore welcomed the new batch of students to its two-year fulltime MBA programmes: Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) and the Post Graduate Programme in Business Analytics (PGPBA), 2024-2026 batch, with an inauguration program on 10 June 2024. The event marked the induction of 535 PGP and 72 PGPBA students, boasting a remarkable 40% female cohort for the first time ever.
The orientation program encompassed a diverse range of activities, including discussions with alumni, faculty, and industry experts, as well as social impact awareness activities, providing a comprehensive introduction to the IIMB experience. The orientation program featured several activities including -
Ask the Alum
The ‘Ask the Alum’ session held on June 13th, was an incredible success. The incoming PGP and PGPBA Year-1 students connected with our distinguished alumni including Rachit Maheshwari, Sravan Menthula, Zubin Sheth, Anant Singhal, Kishore Balaji Rajan, Jaya G, Karthikeyan, Abhilash Kumar, Vamsi Goutam, Prashanth C, Ananth Narayanan, Ravi Purohit, Neha Mota and Anirudh Srivatsa. They shared their wisdom on navigating academics, extracurricular activities, and professional life post-IIMB. The session also highlighted a strong sense of community and support, inspiring students to not only excel individually but also contribute to the institution's legacy.
Community Service
Kicking off the new academic year with purpose, the incoming cohort dedicated their orientation week to impactful community service. From 12 to 14 June, 600 students worked with New Ark Mission of India (Home of Hope), and Parikrma Humanity Foundation, facilitated by Vikasana, the social impact club at IIM Bangalore.
Over the course of their visit, students immersed themselves in supporting the beneficiaries of the NGOs, while also gaining insights into the operations, challenges, and scaling strategies of these organizations that work tirelessly to support underserved communities. The students witnessed the dedication and resilience required to drive social change, deepening their understanding of the social sector’s impact.
Session on Introspection: Taking a pause and moving ahead
Amidst the excitement of new beginnings, PGP and PGPBA students took lessons on ‘Introspection -Taking a pause and moving ahead’. They learned to use the power of introspection to guide them through their journey at IIM Bangalore and beyond. The session was coordinated by Professor Gopal Pr. Mahapatra, Practice, Chairperson from the Organizational Behavior & Human Resource Management Area at IIMB and an Alumnus of the institute. Ms. Anita Guha, Technical Vitality Development Manager at IBM, India; Ms. Swasthika Ramamurthy, GE and Sun Microsystems APAC; and Mr. G Vishwanath, IIMB alumnus, OD facilitation, Coaching, and Applied Behavioral Science, co-facilitated the sessions.
Talab: theatre workshop
Talab, a Bangalore-based theatre company, organized a three-day workshop for the incoming batch at the institute auditorium. From 12 to 14 June, our students pushed their boundaries and showcased their talent and passion for the art of theatre. Through this immersive experience, they also discovered new facets of themselves and developed a deeper appreciation for the artform.
