27 January 2020, Bengaluru: The Office of Research and Publications (R&P) at IIM Bangalore will host a research seminar titled ‘Learning to Scale or Scaling to Learn? An Empirical Exploration of Production Scaling in the Early American Automobile Industry’, on January 30, 2020. Prof. Sandeep Devanatha Pillai, Department of Management and Technology at Bocconi University, will lead the seminar.
Prof. Pillai has earned his PhD in Strategic Management & Entrepreneurship from the University of Maryland. His research areas include Industry Evolution, Scaling, Experimentation, Early Stage Industry, and Historical Methods in Strategy. He is interested in studying the determinants of firm performance in early-stage industries. He explores the challenges that entrepreneurs face during the early stages of an industry, and the capabilities they need to overcome those challenges.
