Centre for Public Policy to host Eighth Foundation Day Lecture on 09 July
Dr. Saurabh Garg, Secretary, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, to deliver the address on the Centre’s 26th Foundation Day
25 June, 2026, Bengaluru: The Centre for Public Policy (CPP) at IIM Bangalore will host its Eighth Foundation Day Lecture on 09 July 2026, from 4:00 PM onwards, at the IIMB auditorium. The lecture, marking the Centre’s 26th Foundation Day, will be delivered by Dr. Saurabh Garg, Secretary, Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), Government of India.
Established in 2000 through a partnership between the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Government of India, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and IIM Bangalore, the Centre for Public Policy is an independent, public interest-oriented policy think tank dedicated to research, teaching, training, and capacity building. Over the past 26 years, the Centre has advanced policy thinking and practice by promoting equitable, inclusive, and sustainable solutions to challenges in governance and public administration.
CPP undertakes evidence-based research across diverse domains, including innovation, regulation, policymaking, administrative and organisational reforms, public-private partnerships, and the application of information technology in government. It collaborates with a broad range of stakeholders, including Central and State Government agencies, legislative bodies, national and international academic institutions, policy organisations, non-governmental organisations, industry partners, and civil society.
About the speaker
Dr. Saurabh Garg, Secretary of the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), is spearheading reforms to strengthen India’s official statistical system, including coordinated development across Central and State agencies. A senior IAS officer with more than three decades of experience, he has held key leadership positions at the state, national, and international levels, working on initiatives spanning digital agriculture, digital identity systems, direct benefit transfer programmes, infrastructure development, foreign direct investment (FDI) policy, and urban development.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Garg served as Secretary in the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and as Chief Executive Officer of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). His distinguished career also includes tenures as Joint Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs and the Department of Expenditure, as well as Advisor to the Executive Director at the World Bank.
