Research at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) covers all the functional areas of management. Faculty members at IIMB are involved in both theoretical and applied research with an aim to develop conceptual understanding as well as empirical study focusing on industry-specific issues. This report provides details of research and publication activities at IIMB during the period April 2010 to March 2011. I am pleased to state that the research output including publications in academic journals, books, book chapters, case studies and editorial columns in newspapers by IIMB faculty members have significantly increased compared to the previous year. This year, IIMB faculty members have published 10 books and 78 articles in academic journals. IIMB faculty members initiated several research projects funded by both private and public sector companies. IIMB became the first Indian institute to sign a contract to distribute case studies through Harvard Business Publishing (HBP). During the current academic year (2010-11), 12 cases along with their teaching notes were distributed through HBP. IIMB also signed an agreement with Richard Ivey School of Business to write cobranded cases, four cases and teaching notes were published by Ivey Publishing. IIMB also initiated research collaboration with the Richard Ivey School of Business, Canada and the University of Exeter, UK. Research ambience at IIMB is enriched by seminars at which researchers from various academic institutes and research organizations share their research work. More than 40 researchers from across the globe visited IIMB and delivered research seminars that were conducted every week. Several conferences and open houses were conducted at IIMB to discuss many contemporary research themes at IIMB. Most research publications listed in this report are in the public domain.
