Workshop focussed on discussions around good governance and dynamic leadership helping build strong, resilient, compliant, impactful and sustainable organizations that can serve in alignment with their constitutional mandate
11 November, 2021, Bengaluru: The Centre for Corporate Governance & Citizenship (CCGC) at IIM Bangalore hosted a five-day workshop for NGO leaders on ‘Entrepreneurial Leadership and Governance’, from October 25 to 29, 2021. The entire event was conducted online.
The objective of the workshop was to discuss how good governance and dynamic leadership can build strong, resilient, compliant, impactful and sustainable organizations that can serve in alignment with their constitutional mandate. The sessions were attended by 26 NGO leaders from 22 NGOs.
The event saw a plethora of speakers giving their insight on topics related to the theme of the event.
The topic, ‘How to be effective custodians of the organization’s vision, mission and values as exemplified in its MoA/Constitution?’, was discussed by Prof. S Raghunath of the Strategy area at IIM Bangalore and Chairman of South Asia Board of the Academy of International Business; Sunil Kunte, Executive Coach and Board Member, Christel House India, and J Mathew, CEO, Christel House India.
Prof. Sourav Mukherji from the Organizational Behavior & Human Resources Management area of IIMB, spoke on: ‘Entrepreneurial Leadership’.
Sanjay Khajuria, Director – Corporate Affairs, Nestle India Ltd, discussed the topics: ‘Approach to seeking effective partnerships with government, corporates, other civil society actors, academia, etc.’ and ‘Performance monitoring by the Board with regards to Agreements/MoUs’.
Prof. PD Jose, faculty and Chairperson of the Strategy area of IIMB, shared his insight on: ‘How to build an NGO organization that addresses sustainability and thrives in a dynamic environment’.
‘The Role of Brand, Marketing and Communication in the Non-profit Sector’, was explained in detail by Harish Bijoor, Brand Consultant, Harish Bijoor Consults Inc.
Deepak Jain, Advisor, Wipro Foundation, spoke on, ‘Ensuring balanced organizational controls to align with/fulfil the organization’s vision and mission’.
‘CSR and Taxation Compliances for NGOs’, was discussed by Prof. L Sridhar, Partner – Sridhar & Brito Chartered Accountants, Bangalore.
The workshops also included a session on, ‘How to ensure financial oversight with regard to revenues and expenditures, with a special focus on timely utilization of funds received’, which was led by Prof. Padmini Srinivasan, faculty in the Finance & Accounting area and Chairperson, Centre for Corporate Governance and Citizenship of IIMB.
