Panel on Shareholder Activism

25 January, 2022: The Centre for Corporate Governance and Citizenship (CCGC) at IIMB organised a panel discussion on ‘Shareholder Activism: Influences on Good Corporate Governance’, on 21st January 2022. 

TV Mohandas Pai, Chairman, Aarin Capital Partners, JN Gupta, Managing Director, Stakeholders Empowerment Services, Richard Rekhy, Board Member, KPMG Dubai, and former CEO, KPMG India, were the panellists. 

The discussion focused on shareholder activism, how it can ensure good corporate governance, who is an activist shareholder, when is a company likely to be the target of activism, how can a company effectively prepare for—and respond to—an activist campaign and need for shareholder activism in India.

The session was moderated by Ajay Nanavati, former chairman, Syndicate Bank, and former MD, 3M India Ltd.

Prof. Padmini Srinivasan, Chairperson, Centre for Corporate Governance and Citizenship, IIMB, delivered the context setting address and introduced the speakers.
