One-day technical event to explore emerging themes in AI, ML, analytics at scale, ethical AI and real-world applications of data science

3 February, 2026, Bengaluru: IIM Bangalore’s Data Centre & Analytics Lab (DCAL) is set to host the eighth edition of the Global Women in Data Science Conference (WiDS 2026) on 14th March 2026, from 8: 45 AM to 5 PM, at the Institute auditorium.

The Global Women in Data Science Conference is a one-day technical event designed to inspire and educate data scientists worldwide, regardless of gender, while actively supporting the advancement of women in the field. The conference features cutting-edge research, industry applications, and thought leadership in a broad set of domains.

The eighth edition of WiDS Bangalore will bring together leading voices from technology, research, and industry to explore emerging themes in artificial intelligence, machine learning, analytics at scale, ethical AI, and real-world applications of data science. With participation from organisations such as IBM, PayPal, Microsoft, Titan Company Limited, Landmark Group, Mastercard, Glance.ai, and leading academic institutions, the conference will offer a comprehensive view of how data-driven innovation is reshaping decision-making across sectors.

WiDS is a global initiative launched by Stanford University and is being organised in Bangalore under the leadership of Prof. U. Dinesh Kumar, Director In-charge, IIM Bangalore, along with Ms. Shailaja Grover and Ms. Harini Thammaiah. The event is inclusive of all genders and welcomes data science practitioners, researchers, and students from both industry and academia.

As part of the technology vision talks, Dr. Subarna Roy, Chief Data Scientist, IBM, will deliver a talk on ‘Moving beyond reactive machine learning’, followed by the session ‘Building Shakti: An AI-powered mentoring platform for women in data & AI’ by Sowmya Moni, Strategic Advisor. The talk ‘Pocket agents: Building AI that actually helps’ will be led by Harini Shekar, Director - AI/Applied Machine Learning and Data Science, PayPal, while Susmita Kundu, Head – Decision Sciences at Glance.ai, will discuss ‘Managing CXO expectations around AI, data science and analytics’.

The panel discussion titled ‘Is AI making us better or just faster?’ will feature Archana Menon, Titan Company Limited; Itti Singh, Landmark Group; Ranjani Mani, Microsoft India; Shalini Sinha, Liga Data, with Shailaja Grover as moderator.

Dr. Maneet Singh, Vice President, Data Science at AI Garage, Mastercard, will share insights on ‘The joy of AI at scale: Stories from a billion transactions’. The conference will conclude with a session on ‘Preventing online scams in the age of AI: Practical cyber safety for everyday life’, delivered by Urvashi Kapoor, Senior Editor and AGM, Jagran Media.
