Dr. Balkrishna Doshi, architect of IIMB and Pritzker Architecture Prize awardee, is honoured with Padma Bhushan
28 January, 2020: Dr. Balkrishna Doshi, the architect of the IIMB campus, has been conferred the Padma Bhushan, the third-highest civilian award in the Republic of India given for distinguished service of high order. The Government of India announced the list of awardees on the eve of Republic Day.
The first Indian to receive the Pritzker Architecture Prize, one of the most prestigious honours in architecture and equivalent to the Nobel prize, Dr. Doshi is also a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects and Fellow of the Indian Institute of Architects.
Dr. G. Raghuram, Director, IIMB, congratulated Dr. Doshi on the occasion and said: “IIMB is proud to have a legend who has integrated nature and climate with the structural set-up of the distinctive design of the campus. His erudition, intelligence and work in the field of architecture is noteworthy and beyond compare.”
Dr. Doshi attributes his work at IIM Bangalore as an essential part of his journey.
