IIMB strengthens global standing, ranked among the top 30 worldwide in QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026
Rises to #29 globally; ranked #5 in Asia in Business and Management Studies
27 March, 2026, Bengaluru: The release of the QS World University Rankings 2026 by Subject has reaffirmed the global standing of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), ranking it #5 in Asia and #2 in India for Business and Management Studies. The Institute has also achieved a global rank of #29, marking a significant rise from #40 in 2025, and placing it among the top 30 institutions worldwide in the discipline.
Commenting on this achievement, Prof. U Dinesh Kumar, Director-in-charge, IIMB, said: “Our improved standing in the QS World University rankings by subject this year reflects IIM Bangalore’s strong academic and employer reputation, supported by consistent research impact. It highlights our continued focus on delivering globally relevant management education and producing graduates who are well aligned with industry expectations.”
The Quacquarelli Symonds methodology evaluates institutions on key indicators, including Academic Reputation, Employer Reputation, Citations per Paper, and H-index. The Institute demonstrates strong performance in Employer Reputation (80.9) and Academic Reputation (78.9) for Business and Management Studies. Also, a solid research impact through Citations per Paper (71.3) and H-index (78.9), reinforcing its position as a globally respected centre for both industry relevance and scholarly output.
The 2026 edition marks the 16th annual release of the QS Subject rankings, analysing the reputation and research output of 6,273 institutions worldwide. From this pool, 1,908 institutions were ranked across 55 narrow subjects and five broad subject areas, resulting in over 21,000 entries, underscoring the scale and rigor of this global benchmarking exercise.
