IIM Bangalore’s Supply Chain Management Centre inks MoU with South Central Railways
Centre to undertake comprehensive research as part of SCR freight logistics market study
27 February, 2026, Bengaluru: The Supply Chain Management Centre (SCMC) at IIM Bangalore has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with South Central Railways (SCR) to undertake a comprehensive research study on its freight services. The collaboration is intended to generate analytical insights to strengthen freight operations and support efforts aligned with the national objective of achieving 3,000 million tonnes of cargo loading by 2030.
The MoU was formalized during the South Central Railways’ Rail Parcel Conclave held at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad, where Prof. Rajeev R. Tripathi, Chairperson, SCMC, and faculty in the Production & Operations Management (POM) area at IIM Bangalore, delivered an invited talk on ‘Railways in Modern Supply Chains’.
The conclave also marked the launch of the Rail Parcel App, an AI-powered logistics marketplace developed by Indian Railways. The first-of-its-kind platform is designed to integrate parcel capacity, demand discovery, and digital booking into one seamless ecosystem.
