IMRDC aims to encourage research and scholarship among doctoral students in Management Science, with a special emphasis on issues related to India. To this end, IMR initiated and instituted the country's first annual Doctoral Students Conference for management scholars in 2009.
The conference is a two-day event with paper presentations by doctoral students and invited talks and workshops by leading researchers, academics and practitioners. In its eleventh edition now, the conference has established itself as a flagship event in the doctoral community.
The objective of IMRDC is to identify and encourage interesting and important research by doctoral students in management, which includes the areas of Decision Sciences and Information Systems, Economics and Public Policy, Entrepreneurship, Finance and Accounting, Marketing, Organisational Behaviour and Human Resources Management, Production and Operations Management, and Strategy.
In its first edition, in 2009, the conference received 20 full papers from select institutions, and this year, in its eleventh edition, IMRDC has received around 90 full papers across areas from top management and social science institutes across the country such as the IIMs, the IITs, the Indian School of Business (ISB), the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR), the regional institutes of engineering and leading universities both in India and abroad. Of these submissions only the top 10 or so will be selected after two rounds of review. The papers selected for final presentation will have a dedicated discussant to critique the paper and offer comments and constructive feedback.
The conference committee also expects interesting keynote speakers and workshops led by eminent researchers to be part of IMRDC. Plans are being firmed up to showcase the most interesting research, and to present talks and workshops to provide the research community with a worthwhile learning experience.
