CSITM at IIMB to host IS research seminar by Dr. Subodh Sharma on September 30

23 September 2025, Bangalore: The Centre for Software and IT Management (CSITM) at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) will host an upcoming Information Systems (IS) research seminar titled ‘Provenance in a Secure Consent-Based Data Sharing Framework’ delivered by Dr. Subodh Sharma, Associate Professor of Computer Science & Engineering at IIT Delhi on 30th September 2025, from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm IST, at IIMB.
The seminar will be held in hybrid mode. Students, faculty, Academic Associates, and Research Associates from all programmes of IIM Bangalore may participate in person. Participants outside of IIM Bangalore can join through Zoom.

CSTIM will conduct the seminar as part of its initiative to promote the dissemination and application of knowledge for the benefit of academics and professionals from all walks of industry. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.
He will explore the nuances of data provenance and secure consent-based frameworks, addressing critical challenges in personal data protection, mechanized access control mechanisms, and privacy-preserving technologies. Attendees will gain insights into the intersection of software security, privacy, and policy, as well as practical approaches to implementing consent-based data sharing frameworks.
About the Speaker:
Dr. Subodh Sharma, Associate Professor of Computer Science & Engineering at IIT Delhi. He holds the PK Gupta Chair Professorship in Privacy & Decentralization at IIT Delhi and was formerly a research scientist at the University of Oxford. He also holds a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Mumbai and a PhD from the University of Utah. Dr. Sharma’s research primarily focuses on software engineering and formal methods, with a particular emphasis on ensuring the reliability and security of parallel software through static and dynamic program analyses, model checking, and programming language solutions. His recent work has concentrated on securing electronic voting protocols, safeguarding privacy and purpose limitation in critical public-facing software systems and exploring the tech-policy implications of people-centric technologies.
