The aim of this workshop is to present the CrossCult project, a European Union H2020 funded project in the Cultural Heritage sector, and further promote its results to the international audience. CrossCult aims to empower reuse of digital cultural heritage in context-aware crosscuts of European history and encourage a change in the way European citizens appraise history. It fosters the reinterpretation of what citizens may have learnt in the light of cross-border interconnections among pieces of cultural heritage, other citizens' viewpoints and physical venues. It seeks to increase retention, stimulate reflection and help citizens appreciate their common past and present in a more holistic manner. Technology and mobile apps will be used and a user-friendly and a cost-efficient tool for experience designers, museum experts and external stakeholders, will be developed.
Projects, research groups, academics, librarians, stakeholders, independent researchers and practitioners who are active in the broader area of cultural informatics and heritage are invited to participate in this workshop. The ultimate goal of this workshop is to share technology, tools, know-how, methods and best practices at an international level.
This work has been supported by CrossCult: ‘Empowering reuse of digital cultural heritage in context-aware crosscuts of European history’, funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program.
The workshop will cover: a brief introduction of the project, brief introduction of the four pilots, CIDOC-CRM use in CrossCult, and CrossCult knowledge base presentation. The instructors would be Daphne Kyriaki-Manessi, G. Giannakopoulos and I. Triantafyllou from the Department of Archives, Library Science & Information Studies, University of West Attica, Athens, Greece.
