Five students of two-year MBA at IIMB receive prestigious scholarships for international education

The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship, Charpak Master’s Scholarship and Charpak Exchange Scholarship would expose the recipients to the rich cultural heritage of France and provide them access to a global network of other professionals

11 August, 2022, Bengaluru: Five students of the 2021-23 batch of IIM Bangalore’s two-year full-time MBA programmes – Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) and Post Graduate Programme in Business Analytics (PGP-BA), have received prestigious scholarships for their dual degree and term exchange programmes in France. The highly competitive scholarships are aimed to aid the students in navigating daily costs during their stay in a new country.

Eiffel Excellence Scholarship

The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program was established by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs to enable French higher education institutions to attract top foreign students to enrol in their Master's and PhD programmes. A monthly stipend of 1181 euros is provided to Eiffel scholars.

This scholarship was awarded to Jatan Vyas. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Technology from Sardar Vallabhbhai National Institute of Technology (SVNIT), Surat. Post his graduation, he worked at Bharat Electronics Limited, a Ministry of Defence enterprise, as a Deputy Engineer before joining IIM Bangalore. He would be pursuing his international education at ESCP Business School.

Talking about how this opportunity would help further his career, Jatan says, “A Masters-in-Management (MiM) degree from ESCP, Europe along with an MBA from IIM Bangalore would give me the best of both worlds. The Eiffel Scholarship not only offsets my expenses but also provides an invaluable global network of other professionals.”

Charpak Master’s Scholarship

The Charpak Master's Scholarship is for Indian students who want to pursue a postgraduate degree in France. The Charpak Scholarship's Master's programme is for one academic year, or ten months, from September to June. A monthly stipend of 700 euros is provided to the scholars.

The Charpak Master’s Scholarship has been awarded to Nishant Singh, who would be joining ESCP, Europe. Nishant graduated as a Mechanical Engineer from NIT, Jamshedpur, after which he worked for more than three years as a Consultant at EXL Services.

“The scholarship is a huge financial and administrative support”, Nishant says and adds that it has “streamlined the entire process, right from availing accommodation to the expenses required. This helps us focus on cultural exchange and save our time and effort from the formalities of moving to a new country.”

Charpak Exchange Scholarship

The Charpak Exchange Scholarship invites Indian students pursuing Bachelor's or Master's degree in any stream who want to participate in an exchange programme. The duration of the Charpak Scholarship's exchange programme is one to four months, that is, for one semester. A monthly stipend of 700 euros is provided to the scholars.

The Charpak Exchange Scholarship has been awarded to Mridul Sureka, Puranjay Singhal and Venkataraman M.

Mridul Sureka holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi. His interest areas include Private Equity Investing and Consulting and he aspires to work with organizations suited to these interests. He will pursue his exchange term at HEC Paris during the Fall of 2022.

Mridul says the scholarship has made it possible to pursue his exchange term without any financial burden. “This prestigious award also motivates me to keep working hard and keep striving for excellence."

Born and brought up in Delhi, Puranjay is a graduate from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi, with a major in Economics. After his graduation, he worked with JP Morgan Chase & Co and Rothschild & Co in Treasury Solutions and Investment Banking roles. He has a keen interest in Finance and Strategy and aspires to run his own venture in future. He will pursue his exchange term at HEC Paris.

“The scholarship will aid my exchange semester programme in one of the most prestigious business schools globally. Staying in France would expose me to its rich cultural heritage, broadening my personal horizons and developing my decisiveness.”

Venkataraman M completed his BE in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University, Chennai. After working in the automobile sector for two years, he decided to pursue an MBA. He aspires to lead projects related to sustainable technologies and make the world a better place. He would be pursuing his overseas studies at ESCP Business School.

“In line with my aspiration, I firmly believe that ESCP Business School will make me an efficient business leader and help me achieve my goals. In addition to the financial benefits that I derive from my scholarship, I am extremely privileged that I am one among twenty to be awarded this scholarship by the Embassy of France in India.”
