Mizuho India Japan Study Centre hosts delegation from Mizuho Financial Group on 22nd June

The objective of the meet was to strengthen the existing partnership between Mizuho Bank and IIMB as well as to explore new avenues of collaboration

23 June, 2023, Bengaluru: The Mizuho India Japan Study Centre (MIJSC) at IIM Bangalore hosted a delegation from Mizuho Financial Group on 22nd June 2023, with an objective of strengthening the existing partnership between Mizuho Bank and IIMB as well as to explore new avenues of collaboration.

The distinguished visitor was Mr Ken Ashida, Deputy CEO of Mizuho Financial Group, and he was accompanied by his team in India. Other than enhancing the partnership, their visit was aimed at offering unique opportunities to students to engage in research and internships in Japan as well as gain a deep understanding of Japanese culture and business practices.

The delegation's first meeting was with Anand Sri Ganesh, COO of NSRCEL, the start-up incubation and entrepreneurship cell at IIMB. They discussed possibilities of using NSRCEL's proven ability in training start-ups, especially at the revenue stage incubation, to train Japanese start-ups. This was followed by a visit to MIJSC at IIMB, during which Saideep Rathnam, COO of MIJSC, provided an overview of the centre's initiatives and plans for the future. He emphasized MIJSC's commitment to strengthening the bilateral relationship between India and Japan through cross-cultural learning and research.

The delegation also held meetings with Prof. Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director, IIMB, Prof. D Krishna Sundar, Chairperson, Mizuho India Japan Study Centre and faculty in the Production & Operations Management area of IIMB, Prof. U Dinesh Kumar, Dean Faculty, Chairperson, Data Centre & Analytics Lab and faculty from the Decision Sciences area of IIMB, and others. Joydeep Sarkar, the incumbent Chairperson of MIJSC, also joined the meeting virtually. 

MIJSC was set up with a vision to promote understanding of Japan in India and India in Japan, in order to facilitate collaborative initiatives among academia, industry, and government agencies of both the countries to work on areas of mutual interest.
