Professor Pawar’s research seminar on Jan 23

Professor Kulwant S Pawar, from the University of Nottingham in the UK, will conduct a research seminar hosted by the Research & Publications Office at IIMB, on Monday, 23 January 2023, from 11.00 am at Classroom P21. The seminar will focus on ‘The role of responsible innovation in circular economy’.
Product development is a key business activity that drives long-term business success. Over time, the focus of the product development process has evolved to encompass a more diverse group of stakeholders' needs and inputs, culminating in a call for more responsible research and innovation. Here, the speaker extends the debate, from its focus on science and its engagement within the context of circular economy, to bring the principles of responsible research and innovation into the new product development process. Many of the mechanisms exist, but a holistic approach to considering responsible innovation in all key stages of the product development process has not yet been fully addressed. The speaker will provide an overview of different triggers at each stage of the process that can contribute towards responsible research and innovation.
Professor Pawar holds a chair in Operations Management at the University of Nottingham, UK, and is the former Director of the Centre for Concurrent Enterprise (1995-2020). His research interests include managing new product design and development, managing design teams in a distributed global context, analysis and configurations of logistics and supply chain networks and operations in different contexts, sectors in Europe, China, and India. He has published over 300 papers. He was Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Logistics: Research & Application (2002-2007) and is a member of the editorial boards of several journals. He has been involved in more than 30 funded research projects and has coordinated and managed several national, European, and international projects and networks. He is the founder and Chairman of the International Symposium on Logistics, and co-organiser of the International Conference on Concurrent Enterprising. He sits on several international professional committees and boards, and is an expert reviewer, evaluator, and consultant of the European Commission.
