As a participant of IIM Bangalore’s Foundations of Management programme, I can attest to its value in strengthening my determination to pursue higher studies in management. Selected from a pool of many aspiring undergraduate students pan India, I was one of the 48 students selected for the first edition of IIM Bangalore’s summer residential programme conducted by the esteemed faculty members and senior doctoral students.
Intensely engaging sessions, case-based learnings, group assignments often requiring us to work as a business, the government or the very society itself for any given situation, imbued an out-of-the-box thinking in each one of us. In fact, for me, one of the most memorable instances was when Prof. Ananth Krishnamurthy had announced the renowned ‘surprise tests’ in store for us as part of the sneak peek into MBA life! The programme undoubtedly lived up to its name on every front and I extend my sincere appreciation for this comprehensive programme to Centre for Teaching and Learning at IIM Bangalore and to the programme directors, Professor Ananth Krishnamurthy and Professor Sourav Mukherji.

The Foundation of Management course provided by IIM Bangalore was an outstanding experience. The course was very well-structured and covered all the important aspects of management in a comprehensive manner.
The course instructors were exceptional — they were not only experts in their fields but also had a passion for teaching. They encouraged participation and provided personalised attention to each student, making the learning experience more engaging and effective.

Attending the 5-day residential Foundations of Management course at IIM Bangalore was a truly transformative experience for me. The course curriculum was extensive and included topics such as marketing, decision-making, and strategy. I was thrilled to know that I had been selected to participate in the 5-day residential Foundations of Management course organised by the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore.
This course provided a comprehensive understanding of management education at IIMs and allowed us to experience their dynamic campus. During the five-day program, we had 25 lectures, including enlightening keynote sessions delivered by knowledgeable professors at the beginning and doctoral candidates leading the subsequent sessions.
As an engineering student, this was a unique opportunity for me to explore different fields in management and experience IIM's culture, including the surprise tests in between lectures. I learned how to apply the knowledge I gained in engineering to the corporate world or society. The accommodation and food were outstanding, and this course facilitated interaction with students from all over India, and I had the opportunity to develop new connections. Overall, this course offered me valuable insights into management education and provided me with greater clarity about my future career path. I would like to express my gratitude to the professors and the CTL team who conducted this programme.

I'm excited to share my experience at the amazing summer course organised at the prestigious Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B). This course equipped me with invaluable skills in various areas of business management.
During the course, I delved into the world of strategy and learnt how to formulate and implement effective business strategies that can drive success in today's dynamic business environment. I also gained deep insights into public policy and its impact on business operations, enabling me to analyse and navigate complex regulatory landscapes.
One of the highlights of the course was learning about Net Present Value (NPV) and its significance in financial decision making. Additionally, I gained a solid foundation in marketing principles, including market analysis, segmentation, targeting, and positioning, which will be invaluable in formulating effective marketing strategies.
I am immensely grateful for the opportunity to learn from the distinguished faculty at IIM-B who shared their expertise and industry insights, and for the vibrant and diverse cohort of fellow learners who enriched my learning experience. The Foundations of Management Course in itself is a mini package for those who want to explore the field of management as a postgraduate option. The sessions were interactive and beneficial for understanding particular topics of the subject. The interaction with professors, Ph.D. scholars, and fellow participants were insightful. The professors and Ph.D. scholars tried their best to make us understand a particular topic and were ready to clear our doubts as well. I really liked the case study-based discussions during the sessions. Everything was well arranged for us besides sessions and the other facilities, whether it was accommodation or food. Overall, the experience of these 5 days was amazing.
I would recommend it to my junior batch, specifically to those who have an interest in management and want to explore it as a career option.
