IIMB’s EPGP students win Amazon ACE Challenge

They compete with 1,800 teams from top 15 B-Schools in the country

Sandeep Bharihoke, Nitin Agarwal and Rahul Kumar, students of the Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP) at Indian Institute of Management Bangalore won the First prize in the Seller Services - Account Management Category of the Amazon Customer Excellence (ACE) Challenge.

ACE Challenge is an innovative intercollegiate case study competition, open to teams from top B-Schools in India. It challenges B-school students to innovate, strategize and sample a diverse set of complex work challenges that are typical to any workplace, including Amazon.

From time-crunched problem-solving and live case simulations to an exciting face-off between teams in the finale, the competition allows B-School students to strategize, brainstorm and innovate in order to critique various case studies given to them.

The final stage of the competition was held in ISB, Hyderabad. The finalists included teams from ISB, IIMA, IIMB, IIMC, FMS, NITIE, SJMSOM, SP JAIN, and IIML. The finalists had to submit a whitepaper and present solutions to the cases circulated by Amazon a week in advance. The presentations were for 10 minutes, followed by questioning for 15 minutes by 8 judges and 8 panelists from Amazon. The intense questioning involved examining every part of the solution and understanding the reasons behind suggesting a particular approach.

Winners were announced in the three categories - Operations, Onboarding Operations and Account Management. The team from IIMB picked up a cheque of Rs. 1.2 lakh for winning in the Account Management Category.
