Professor P N Thirunarayana passes away

IIMB deeply regrets the demise of Professor P N Thirunarayana, Visiting Faculty in the Marketing area at IIMB, who passed away on March 22, 2011 at his residence in Bengaluru. He was recognized as one of the most outstanding faculty members of IIM Bangalore.

Professor P N Thirunarayana was a well-known academician and was associated with IIMB for 33 years. He joined IIMB in April 1977 as an Assistant Professor in the Marketing area. He retired as Professor in 2005 but continued his association as Visiting Faculty till 2010.

Professor P N Thirunarayana held a Bachelor's degree in Science and Engineering and PGDBA from IIM Ahmebdabad. He worked with Grindwell Norton, MICO and Greaves Foresco prior to joining IIMB.

Professor P N Thirunarayana's articles have featured in many prominent Indian and international management publications, including Journal of Business Research, Journal of International Consumer Marketing, Proceedings of the Marketing Educators' Conference (American Marketing Association), European Journal of Marketing, IIMB Management Review and Vikalpa.

Professor Thirunarayana had been the European Community Visiting Professor at GROUPE ESSEC, Paris and UNDP Fellow. He was the Program Director(India) of the International Masters Program in Practicing Management (IMPM), a collaborative project of Hitotsubashi (Japan), Lancaster (UK), McGill (Canada), IIMB (India) and INSEAD (France).

At IIMB, Professor had completed several consultancy assignments and conducted in-company programmes with major organizations in the area of Strategic Marketing, Business Marketing Strategy, Service Marketing, Sales Management and Business Negotiation (National and International).
