Shri Sushil Kumar Shinde, Hon'ble Minister of Power, Government of India released book based on the research study titled Organizational Growth and Success: A Case Research Study of PTC by Professor R Ravi Kumar and Professor T V Ramanayya of the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, on 25 September, 2009 at Shram Shakti Bhawan, New Delhi.

The case research study involved two professional groups, an academic and a corporate group. The aim of the academic group (research team of IIMB) was to study a growing Indian organization known for its contribution, and then use the study to evolve a 'management teaching case',  as there are hardly any cases based on actual organizational events in the Indian context.

PTC India Ltd., the corporate organization, shared a similar concern of non-availability of management teaching cases and had expressed its willingness to participate in the academic exercise that involved close scrutiny and appropriate investigation. In short, both the groups invested their respective energies, competencies and time to achieve a mutually beneficial outcome - the documentation of the growth and success of PTC, identifying the growth drivers and trajectories that have played a role in its success.

Value enhancement, capacity maximization and increasing legitimacy and support are three dimensions that influence the growth and success of any organization. This case research study fully validates this model. PTC has enhanced the value of power trading by playing an enviable role in capacity maximization in power generation, established its authenticity and gained support by becoming a 'model' organization that is worthy of emulation.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sushil Kumar Shinde, Hon'ble Minister of Power said, "This research document is unique in the sense that it provides a holistic picture of the organization arrived at from multiple perspectives. It will encourage similar research with a view to share the success of Indian organizations with students and academicians".

The minister also said that the successful conduct of the research study called for thorough and close scrutiny of the organization and it will happen only when the organization is clean and courageous. He congratulated PTC for the cooperation.

Professors Ravi Kumar and Ramanayya of IIMB while speaking on the occasion expressed happiness on being part of this pioneering endeavor. They also hoped that more organizations and academics would be inspired to collaborate on research studies, thus enriching "knowledge creation" and "wisdom dissemination" that would add to the body of knowledge in the related area.

The book has been made available to over 1500 management institutes in India so that it can be used as a teaching case providing pragmatic insights and contemporary management practices to the business school students. Efforts are in place to make the book available to management institutes across the globe.
