30 April, 2025, Bengaluru: IIM Bangalore will present ‘Samyoga: A Carnatic-Hindustani Jugalbandi’, a classical music concert featuring well known Carnatic classical vocalist Manasi Prasad and acclaimed Hindustani classical music artiste Dr. Radhika Joshi, from 6.30 pm on 4th May 2025, to be held on the lawns adjacent to the residence of IIM Bangalore Director Professor Rishikesha T Krishnan. India is proud to be home to two highly developed streams of classical music – Carnatic and Hindustani. A ‘jugalbandi’ represents a coming together of both the systems in a concert format, exploring both their commonalities as well as points of divergence.

Manasi Prasad learnt music from renowned gurus such as Vidwan R. K. Padmanabha in Bangalore and Dr. Sriram Parasuram in Chennai. She started performing at concerts from the age of nine years, and since then has performed widely across India and in six continents around the world. Manasi is a recipient of several awards in music, including the prestigious Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar from the Sangeet Natak Akademi, Government of India, Sri Shanmukhananda Yuva Kalakaar Puraskar, Ganakalashree, Swaralaya Bharati from Malleswaram Sangeetha Sabha, Rotary-Brigade Young Achievers Award, and others. Manasi holds an Engineering degree and earned her MBA (PGP) from IIM Bangalore. She was the first museum director of the Indian Music Experience Museum, which is a prominent arts centre of Bangalore. She has been awarded Fellowships of the TED Organization and the Aspen Global Leadership Network.

Dr. Radhika Joshi hails from the prestigious Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana. Under the guidance of Pt. Raghunandan Panshikar (a disciple of the legendary Gaansaraswati Kishori Amonkar), her musical journey also led her to explore semi-classical forms such as Thumri-Dadra, under the esteemed Padma Bhushan Smt. Girija Devi at the Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata. Radhika has performed in several prestigious music festivals both in India and abroad, Furthermore, Radhika is the visionary founder of Jaipur Gunijankhana, an archive in Pune dedicated to the documentation and preservation of Hindustani music. In addition to her musical achievements, Radhika holds a Master’s in Economics from Tufts University, Boston, and a PhD in Economics from IIM Bangalore.

Manasi Prasad and Dr. Radhika Joshi will be accompanied by four other artistes, Mattur Vishwajit on Violin, Anoor Vinod Shyam on Mridangam, Surya Upadhyaya on Harmonium and Adarsh Shenoy on Tabla.
