22 July, 2025, Bengaluru: The Supply Chain Management Centre at IIMB will host a talk titled ‘High-Technology’, Secure Trading Chains and India’s Strategic Trade Controls, to be delivered by Dr. V Siddhartha, Former Secretary, Science Advisory Council to the Prime Minister, on 31 July 2025, at 11.30 AM, in Classroom P-12.
Abstract:
The term "height" of a technology is a vague descriptor often used to imply a perceived distance from every day, familiar technologies. The talk will explore the dimensions of export controls that apply when Indian private industry accesses foreign-controlled military or dual-use technologies, or exports such products, which are subject to both international and Indian regulations due to national security and foreign policy considerations.
About the speaker:
Dr. V. Siddhartha, a former Emeritus Scientist at DRDO, has held key advisory roles with the Defence Ministry, the Principal Scientific Adviser, and the Prime Minister’s Science Advisory Council, and has contributed to international security and export control policy, including serving on the UN Experts Group for UNSC Resolution 1540. A graduate of IIT Madras and Ph.D. from Imperial College London, he continues to be an influential voice in science, technology, and global security, currently serving as adjunct faculty at NIAS, IISc Bangalore.
