‘Board Leaders of Tomorrow: Strategy, Stewardship and Sustainability’: Two-day Programme at IIMB

Hosted jointly by Centre for Corporate Governance & Sustainability and Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry, programme focuses on sustainable board leadership

8 September, 2025, Bengaluru: The Centre for Corporate Governance & Sustainability (CCGS) at IIM Bangalore and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) jointly hosted a two-day programme titled, ‘Board Leaders of Tomorrow: Strategy, Stewardship and Sustainability’ on 30th August and 4th September 2025, at the IIMB campus.

The objective of the event was to equip organizations with the knowledge and capabilities to pursue impactful, risk-resilient growth – driven by strategic, responsible, well-governed and sustainable board leadership. The programme was attended by CEOs, CFOs, Independent Directors and senior executives from financial institutions, public and private sectors.

The sessions were conducted by Prof. Padmini Srinivasan, Chairperson, Centre for Corporate Governance & Sustainability and Executive Education Programmes, and faculty of the Finance & Accounting area of IIMB; Vijaya Sampath, Independent Director; Pankaj Tewari, Group Company Secretary, Bharti Airtel; Deepa Agarwal, Assurance Partner, S R Batliboi & Associates; Sanjay Vij, Partner, Member Firm of EY; A.G.S. Manikantha, Company Secretary, Infosys Ltd; Shriram Subramanian, Founder and Managing Director, InGovern Research Services; Anand Jangid, Managing Partner, AJA LABS.AI; Prof. Vasanthi Srinivasan, Chairperson, Digital Learning and faculty of the Organizational Behavior & Human Resources Management area of IIMB, and Sandeep Alur, CTO, Microsoft Innovation Hub, India.

The programme covered a wide range of topics providing strategic insights and practical risk mitigation tools to help navigate the evolving corporate governance and sustainability landscape. Some of these topics include: roles and responsibilities of Independent Directors; board process towards upholding fiduciary duties – avoiding breaches and managing legal challenges; implementation of BRSR and sustainability frameworks; changing landscape of financial reporting – how the auditors' role has changed over the years; overview and evolution of Corporate Governance & Sustainability practices in India; formulating strategies for Effective Governance Stewardship through board committees; risk management and governance; cyber security, forensics and governance; enabling inclusivity and board diversity, and leveraging AI & ML in Financial Analysis and Control for board decisions.
