Office of the Doctoral Programme hosts the Scholarship Recognition Function for its students on 24th October 2025

The event recognized doctoral scholars for their achievements in research, publications, academic milestones, and student leadership

24 October, 2025, Bengaluru: The Office of the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Programme of IIM Bangalore hosted the PhD Scholarship Recognition Function at the MDC Conference Hall on 24th October 2025. The event recognized PhD students for their exemplary academic performance, research excellence, and contribution to the doctoral community.

The felicitation ceremony included recognition of PhD Student Scholarship winners, Doctoral Student Research Paper Award winners, PhD Student Academic Committee (SAC) members, and students who cleared PhD milestones during the year.

Prof. U Dinesh Kumar, Director In-charge, IIMB; Prof. Kanchan Mukherjee, Chairperson, Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Programme; Prof. Rishikesha T Krishnan, Strategy area, Prof. Mukta Kulkarni, Dean Programmes, IIMB, and P.S. Narayan, Global Head - Sustainability and Societal Initiatives, Wipro felicitated the winners. Also present at the event were other faculty, staff, and students of IIMB. 

PhD Student Scholarship winners

The PhD Fellowship Awards are presented based on the students’ academic performance, research productivity, publications in reputed journals, and quality of ongoing research.

The Fellowship recipients for 2025 are: Pradyun Rame Mehrotra of the Economics area and Satyajit Roy of the POM area (WIPRO Sustainability Fellowship); Kunal Biswas of the Economics area, Sanchit Jain of the F&A area, and K V V Raghavan of the Strategy area (The Florintree Scholarship Award); Shiril Saju of the POM area (Herbalife Sustainability PhD Fellowship Award); Ronit Neogy of the Decision Sciences area (JR Fellowship Award) and M Joel Christopher of the F&A area and Sonal Nayak of the Strategy area (The Mirae Asset Scholars Award).

Doctoral Student Research Paper Award winners

The Doctoral Student Research Paper Award aims to recognize quality journal papers in the field of management research published by students of IIMB’s Doctoral programme.

This year’s recipients are Manisha Rathi, Information Systems area, for her paper, ‘Unravelling prosumption behavior for online reviews during environmental uncertainty: A stimulus response perspective’ in the journal Information Systems Frontiers and Antra, Decision Sciences area for her paper ‘Beyond the alarm: Proactive predictions for cardiac arrest incidents in hospitals using interpretable machine learning models’ in the Journal of the Operational Research Society.

Students who have recently cleared their PhD milestones

The Comprehensive Examination is an important milestone in the PhD journey. The students of the 2023 batch who cleared the Comprehensive Examination include: Suchetan Banerjee (Economics), Manan Alpeshbhai Gandhi (OB & HRM), Mantu Prasad Gupta (Decision Sciences), Ganesh J (IS), Kalaga Venkata Laxmana Tejaswi (Marketing), Shaivi Kulshrestha (Public Policy), Mauli Kundlia (OB & HRM), Mir Autif Mohammad (Strategy), Vandana Saini (Economics), and Amrutha Seshagiri (Decision Sciences).

PhD Student Academic Committee (SAC)

The outgoing PhD Student Academic Committee (2024–25) members were felicitated for their contributions to academic and student initiatives, while the newly inducted SAC members (2025–26) were welcomed to their roles.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ashoka, Manager, Office of the Doctoral Programme, IIM Bangalore, who expressed gratitude to the corporate sponsors for their continued support in advancing research endeavours.
