215 students from IIMB’s non-teaching staff families awarded Republic Day Scholarships
February 02, 2026, Bangalore: The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB), in collaboration with its social impact student club, Vikasana, organised the Republic Day Scholarship Distribution Ceremony on 2 February 2026 at the IIMB Auditorium.
The ceremony marked a significant institutional initiative aimed at supporting the education of students from the families of IIMB’s non-teaching staff. Scholarships funded by the Institute were awarded to 215 students, each receiving an amount of ₹4,000, bringing the total scholarship disbursement to ₹8,60,000 for the year.
The event was graced by the presence of senior leadership and faculty members, including Prof. M Jayadev, Dean, Administration; Prof. Dinesh Kumar, Director In-charge, IIMB; Cdr. Ajaya Kumar S, Chief Administrative Officer, IIMB, and Prof. Padmini Srinivasan, Chairperson, Executive Education Programmes and Centre for Corporate Governance and Sustainability.
The programme commenced with a ceremonial lamp lighting, symbolising the Institute’s continued commitment to education, inclusion, and social responsibility. This year witnessed an increase in the number of scholarship recipients, with 111 boys and 104 girls benefiting from the initiative. The Republic Day Scholarship aims to motivate students to pursue academic excellence and build long-term aspirations.
Speaking at the event, Ms. Komala Devi, Senior Administrative Officer, Student Affairs & Hostel, highlighted Vikasana’s broader vision, “The scholarship is intended to motivate students, and the Vikasana Club is also planning skill-development initiatives such as coaching students for competitive examinations and other academic support programmes.”
Sharing insights into Vikasana’s roadmap, Mr. Sachin Mahato, PGP ’26 and Chief Coordinator, Vikasana, IIMB, spoke about upcoming flagship initiatives, including career mentorship, life insurance awareness, and coaching for competitive examinations such as CAT, designed to create sustained impact for future batches.
The Republic Day Scholarship Distribution Ceremony stands as a testament to IIM Bangalore’s enduring commitment to community welfare, educational empowerment, and inclusive growth.
