12 March, 2026, Bengaluru: The Centre for Software and Information Technology Management (CSITM) will host a research seminar on ‘Theorizing the Indian Phenomenon for top Journals: Opportunities and the future’, from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM IST on 18 March, 2026. The session will be led by Dr. Anandasivam Gopal, Professor and President’s Chair of Innovation and Information Systems, Head of Division, Information Technology and Operations Management (ITOM), Nanyang Business School, NTU, Singapore.
The seminar will be held in hybrid mode. Students, faculty, Academic Associates, and Research Associates from all programmes of IIM Bangalore may participate in person. Participants outside of IIM Bangalore can join through Zoom.

Abstract
The seminar will examine India’s rapid emergence as a significant contributor to high-quality global research and scholarly publishing. The session will further explore how India has transitioned from prioritizing high-volume academic output to producing research that increasingly appears in prestigious, high-impact international journals. It highlights the opportunities this shift creates for scholars, institutions, and collaborative research, while also reflecting on the structural, intellectual, and policy changes that can further strengthen India’s presence in top-tier academic discourse in the years ahead.
Speaker Profile
Anand Gopal is the President's Chair of Information Systems and Innovation at Nanyang Business School. Previously, he served as the Dean's Professor of Information Systems at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland. His research interests are broadly in technology platforms, contracts, and entrepreneurship. He has specific projects in technology-based entrepreneurship, secondary markets for tech products, mobile platforms, and healthcare.
He has also worked for two years with PRTM (later acquired by PwC), a strategy and operations consulting firm specializing in the high-tech sector.
His work has been covered in the media by outlets like the New York Times, Forbes, the Boston Globe, and online sites like Phys.Org and ValueWalk.
