CSITM to host one-day Cybersecurity Awareness Workshop for working professionals

The session will focus on cyber resilience, enterprise security, risk management and AI-driven cybersecurity practices

8 August, 2026, Bengaluru: The Centre for Software & Information Technology Management (CSITM) at IIMB will host a one-day Cybersecurity Awareness Workshop on 28th August 2026, from 9:30 AM to 5:15 PM, at the MDC Conference Hall at IIM Bangalore.

The workshop will be led by Samir Khare, a cybersecurity and IT operations leader who has held leadership roles in the Indian Army, Capgemini, Mphasis and Network Security Solutions (I) Ltd., and Prathima Kasagar, who leads Cybersecurity Transformation at Accenture India and brings over two decades of experience in cybersecurity, IT infrastructure management and large-scale transformation programmes.

Designed for working professionals, the workshop aims to build awareness of the rapidly evolving cybersecurity landscape and equip participants with practical knowledge to identify, prevent and respond to cyber threats in both personal and organizational contexts. As digital transformation accelerates across industries, the program seeks to foster a proactive cybersecurity mindset and strengthen organizational resilience through best practices in cyber risk management.

The workshop will cover key aspects of enterprise cybersecurity, including the current threat landscape, phishing and social engineering, identity and access management, endpoint and network security, risk and compliance frameworks, third-party and supply chain security, and the growing role of artificial intelligence in cybersecurity. Sessions will also examine AI-powered threat detection, the security implications of generative AI, automated vulnerability management, and emerging developments in securing AI and machine learning systems.

Participants will gain an understanding of core cybersecurity concepts and prevalent threat vectors, enterprise cyber defence strategies, security standards and compliance frameworks, and approaches to cultivating a cyber-aware organizational culture.

The programme will comprise four thematic sessions:

  • Cybersecurity Overview & Threat Landscape
  • Enterprise Cyber Defense
  • Risk and Compliance
  • Latest Trends: AI in Cybersecurity

Participation is open to working professionals interested in cybersecurity. The registration fee is ₹2,500 (inclusive of GST), and participants will receive a Certificate of Participation upon completion.

Samir Khare brings diverse experience spanning national security, enterprise cybersecurity, and large-scale IT operations. An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla, he has built a distinguished career across the Indian Army and the corporate sector. His corporate career includes leadership roles with Capgemini, Mphasis (an HP company), and Network Security Solutions (I) Ltd., spanning cybersecurity, cloud and infrastructure services, IT service management, consulting and delivery, and large-scale global IT operations. Prior to his corporate career, Samir served for 20 years as a commissioned officer in the Indian Army’s elite airborne forces.

Prathima Kasagar leads Cybersecurity transformation at Accenture India with 24 years across Cybersecurity, IT Infrastructure Management and Managed Services. She drives large-scale transformation engagements, leads critical accounts, and shapes global cross-functional Cybersecurity programs.
