Financing of healthcare is possible from many sources. These include domestic and external commercial borrowing, official aid, non-governmental finance, foreign direct investment (FDI) private equity investment and placements in the domestics or international capital markets, among other sources. Given the growing internationalization of health services, an understanding of the nature, determinants and implications of foreign financing assumes importance.
