27 March, 2018, Bengaluru: Nabendu Paul and Velavan S, scholars of IIM Bangalore’s doctoral programme, in the Finance & Accounting area, and Professor M Jayadev, IIM Bangalore faculty from the Finance & Accounting area, have been awarded the Best Paper Certificate at the Management Doctoral Colloquium & VGSOM Research Scholars’ Day (MDC & VRS 2018), held from March 14 to March 15, 2018. The paper is titled, ‘What determines the style of debt-taking of Indian firms? An econometric analysis’.                                        

MDC & VRS is an annual research consortium organized by the Vinod Gupta School of Management (VGSoM), IIT Kharagpur. The consortium is a forum for interaction between research scholars who specialize in different areas of management and related disciplines. This year was the fourth year of the research consortium. MDC & VRS has always been a purely not-for-profit student-driven academic event.

This year, out of approximately 158 papers, around 118 papers were presented. Of these, three papers received this award on March 15, 2018. The award includes a cash prize worth INR 2000.

Professor Rejie George Pallathitta, Chairperson, Fellow Programme in Management, IIMB and faculty from the Strategy area, congratulated Nabendu, Velavan S and Prof. M Jayadev and said that such efforts make an invaluable contribution in the field of research. Prof. B. B.Chakrabarti, Former Director, IIM Ranchi, and Prof. Manas Kumar Mandal, Former Director General, DRDO were speakers during the two-day event.
