Hosted by the NSRCEL at IIMB, the launch of the nationwide Women Start-up Programme (WSP) 2017-18, on January 08 (Monday), sees enthusiastic participation from women entrepreneurs across the country.

Prof. Suresh Bhagavatula, Director of WSP 2017-18 and Chairperson of NSRCEL’s Entrepreneurial Ecosystem Development, welcomes the participants and offers an overview of the programme while thanking Goldman Sachs and Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India for supporting this edition of WSP.
Dr. Anita Gupta, Adviser and Scientist G, Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, hopes WSP 2017-18 will foster an enabling ecosystem for women entrepreneurs by building a new pipeline of entrepreneurs and equip them with knowledge, skills, mentorship, funding support and networks required to navigate in their start-up journey, and shares details of DST’s support for WSP 2017-18.
Mr. Sonjoy Chatterjee, Chairman and Co-CEO, Goldman Sachs (India), delivers his message for WSP 2017-18, through a video message, and hopes for wider reach and greater scale for this edition of the programme with the support of 5 IIMs (Ahmedabad, Indore, Nagpur, Udaipur, Visakhapatnam) and Presidency University, Kolkata, and the Govt. of India.
Mr. Ravi Krishnan, Chief Administrative Officer, Goldman Sachs, Bengaluru, is struck by the full-house of women entrepreneurs at the event and wishes WSP 2017-18 builds on its success, adding that Goldman Sachs is proud to associate with the programme.
Prof. Anjana Vivek, Visiting Faculty, IIM Udaipur, says harnessing the energy witnessed at IIMB at the launch today was sure to yield tremendous results for WSP 2017-18.
Prof. Thiagu Ranganathan, faculty from the Economics area at IIM Nagpur, draws attention to the declining percentage of women in labour force participation in India and describes WSP 2017-18 as a “relevant” programme to nurture more professional women in general, and women entrepreneurs in particular.
Professor G Raghuram, Director, IIM Bangalore, welcomes the launch of WSP 2017-18, saying programmes such as WSP can break “implicit biases”. Citing examples of ventures run by women in India, Professor Raghuram observes that the WSP 2017-18 edition’s scale, supported by DST and Goldman Sachs, is sure to yield big results.
