The event, to raise money for a cause, saw enthusiastic participation from 76 people ranging from high school students to working professionals

11 October, 2017, Bengaluru: One Day at IIM Bangalore, an event organized by Vikasana, the social impact club run by IIM Bangalore students, was held on October 8 (Sunday) marking the conclusion of Daan Utsav – the Joy of Giving Week celebrations on campus.

The event provided the opportunity to 76 individuals to experience the life of an IIM Bangalore student for a day. The participants were aged between 15 and 54 years and some had travelled all the way to Bengaluru from Delhi. Prof. G. Raghuram, Director, IIMB, welcomed them to the campus.

The participants then attended lectures in Organizational Behaviour, Marketing, and Economics by Prof. Sourav Mukherji, Dean of Academic Programmes, Prof. Y L R Moorthi, faculty from the Marketing area, and Prof. Rupa Chanda, RBI Chair in Economics, respectively.

The lectures were followed by a group activity where the participants were mentored on the case study methodology by students of the Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGP). Thereafter, they worked in groups to solve and present a case to a jury.

A campus tour was also arranged for the participants. Of particular interest were locations at which the popular film, ‘3 Idiots’, was shot. After the campus tour, the participants enjoyed cultural performances presented by the dance and music student clubs of IIM Bangalore. They were given ‘Daan Utsav’ T-shirts as a token of appreciation. The proceeds from the ‘One Day at IIMB’ event will go to DESIRE Society, an NGO based in Bangalore that works for the welfare of HIV-affected children.
