PGPEM team, Profit Paranoids, are runners-up in Global Network Investment Competition organised by the Yale School of Management

Contest organised annually by the Yale School of Management

17 April 2017, Bengaluru: A team from IIM Bangalore named ‘Profit Paranoids’ has emerged as the runner-up in the Global Network Investment Competition 2016-17, a contest organised by the Yale School of Management. It is a one-of-a-kind annual contest dedicated to equity investments sourced from students belonging to top business schools from around the globe. Two other teams from IIMB had participated in the competition.

Team ‘Profit Paranoids’ comprised Belliappa AC, Shoubhik Chakraborty, Vishal Vora, Avira Thomas, Suhas Narsimhan and Sanjay Kurpad, who are students of the Post Graduate Programme in Enterprise Management (PGPEM) at IIMB. Their excellent investment thesis, written report and pitch of investment stock brought them the acclaim. The team will be awarded $1,500 for achieving this feat and will continue to participate in the stock performance competition (part 2 of the overall contest).

Altogether 22 teams from 14 reputed B-schools had participated in the competition held in 2016-2017. Out of the 22 teams, 4 finalist teams were chosen to present their pitches before a distinguished panel of judges in the finals (The Virtual Global Network Stock Pitch Competition) held on March 1, 2017. The panel of judges comprised Jim Chanos, Founder & President - Kynikos Associates; Eddie Tam, CEO & CIO - Central Asset Investments; Katalin Gingold, Co-Head of Equity Research - Cartica Capital; Robert Pohly - Founder & Portfolio Manager, and Matthew Spiegel, Professor of Finance and Faculty Advisor for the competition.
