Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam, mentored by IIM Bangalore, was launched on September 21, 2015 at the Andhra University campus, with 54 students admitted to the two-year Post Graduate Programme in Management.
 

Andhra Pradesh HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Vice Admiral Satish Sony, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Lalam Bhavani, Andhra University Vice Chancellor Dr G S N Raju, IIM Bangalore Director Dr Sushil Vachani, and IIMB faculty members L S Murty, Rajendra Bandi, Ganesh Prabhu and Sourav Mukherji were present at the inauguration and interacted with students and parents. 

The students said they chose IIM Visakhapatnam for the fact IIMV was being mentored by a premier institute such as IIM Bangalore and Visakhapatnam was a strategically located city and an industrial hub.

Dr Sushil Vachani, Director, IIM Bangalore lauded the efforts of the Union Government  and the Government of Andhra Pradesh for the encouragement and support to launch IIM Visakhapatnam as per schedule.  “We are excited to be part of IIM Visakhapatnam’s new journey,” he said, thanking Andhra University for being excellent hosts.

IIMV has a state-of-the-art seminar room and classrooms, library, discussion rooms, lounge and cafeteria.
