IIM Bangalore to host Oral Health India Summit on 20 July
Public health experts to advance dialogue on oral health policy, workforce challenges and health system integration
24th June, 2026, Bengaluru: IIM Bangalore, in collaboration with the Institute of Public Health Bengaluru, will host the Oral Health India Summit on 20th July 2026 from 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM at the IIMB campus.
The summit seeks to catalyze discussions on oral health – considered a critical yet often overlooked component of public health systems in India and other low- and middle-income countries. Despite the high and growing burden of oral diseases, oral health remains inadequately integrated into primary healthcare systems and broader non-communicable disease (NCD) strategies.
Bringing together policymakers, researchers, academics, practitioners and health system experts, the summit will examine oral health issues that enter policy agendas and what this means for implementation, access and outcomes. The event will also serve as a platform for knowledge sharing among early- and mid-career researchers, students and professionals working at the intersection of oral health, health systems and policy reform.

The day-long summit will feature four thematic sessions focused on key challenges and opportunities in the sector.
The opening panel on Oral Health Policy and Agenda Setting will explore the political, institutional and systemic factors that shape oral health policymaking in India, including the role of evidence, advocacy and policy entrepreneurs.
A second session on the Dental Workforce will examine workforce planning, regulation, public-private dynamics and opportunities for integrating oral healthcare into primary healthcare teams.
The third session will focus on the Integration and Implementation of Oral Health in Primary Health Care, addressing challenges related to financing, governance, service delivery and the role of frontline health workers in expanding access to oral healthcare.
The summit will conclude with a discussion on the Commercial Determinants of Oral Health, exploring how industries such as sugar, tobacco, and ultra-processed foods influence oral health outcomes, as well as the policy and regulatory responses needed to address these challenges.
By fostering dialogue among diverse stakeholders, the Oral Health India Summit seeks to contribute to a stronger evidence base for policy action and support efforts to integrate oral health more effectively into India's public health agenda.
