PGP ’82 alumnus S. Padmanabhan takes over the reins as Chairman at Tata Chemicals

He was awarded the 'Distinguished Alumnus Award' for his achievements in 2008

29 May 2025, Bengaluru: S Padmanabhan, PGP’82 alumnus and Distinguished Alumni Award recipient (2008), has been appointed Chairman of Tata Chemicals effective 30 May 2025.

Mr. Padmanabhan has been an integral part of the Tata Group since graduating from IIMB, where he completed his Post Graduate Programme in Management with a specialization in Marketing. Over the past four decades, he has held key leadership roles across the Group, most recently serving as Director at Tata Chemicals. In recognition of his achievements, IIMB honoured Padmanabhan with the 'Distinguished Alumnus Award' in the year 2008.

Padmanabhan took over as Executive Director of Operations of Tata Power Co. Ltd., in February 2008, responsible for all its operations, which include Generation, Transmission and Distribution businesses and the Mumbai Licence Area business and also the Maharashtra Projects. Padmanabhan also served as Director of Operations of Tata Power Trading Co. Ltd. Earlier, he held several positions with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) in various capacities.
