17 July 2022, Bengaluru: The cultural fest ‘Pehel 2022’ was hosted on campus today by students of IIM Bangalore’s two-year weekend MBA for working professionals – the Post Graduate Programme in Enterprise Management (PGPEM).
The event, themed on: ‘Celebrating Life and Relationships’, was conducted completely offline following all public health protocols.
Pehel 2022 was inaugurated by Prof. Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director, IIM Bangalore and Prof. Allen P Ugargol, Chairperson, Post Graduate Programme in Enterprise Management and faculty in the Public Policy area. Other faculty members as well as family members of the students attended the event.
Prof. Allen P Ugargol, in his welcome speech, highlighted the recent achievement by PGPEM. “PGPEM has been ranked Number One in India, Number 12 in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, and Number 46 globally in the QS Global Executive MBA Rankings 2022. It is another feather in the cap for our institute.”
Prof. Rishikesha Krishnan, talking about the QS rankings said: “The QS EMBA Ranking recognizes IIMB among the global leaders in management education which is a testimony to the hard work put in by our students and faculty.” He advised the students to work hard towards making PGPEM a world-best Executive MBA brand. “Do work collectively towards the next milestone of making PGPEM the top-ranked programme in the Asia-Pacific region.”
Prof. Ugargol and Prof. Padmini Srinivasan, Chairperson, Centre for Corporate Governance & Citizenship and faculty in the Finance & Accounting area, felicitated the first year PGPEM students on winning the Sports Friendship Cup, held between the senior and junior PGPEM cohort.
The Director’s Merit List featuring the top 10 merit candidates from the PGPEM 2021 batch was announced by Prof. R T Krishnan. Manshul Arora, Aniketh Mohan Rao, Sudhir Kumar, Nevin Alex Samuel, Amit Pareek, Surabhi Muralidhara, Arun Kumar S, Thomas Mathai, Mohit Srivastava and Wriddhi Bagchi made it to the list.
The PGPEM cohort displayed their diverse talent through dance and music performances as well as poem recitals. The second year students presented a musical medley.
Pehel 2022’s showstopper event was the fashion show, themed on ‘Make in India’, that highlighted three indigenous fashion brands – ILK, SNOB and Rainush. These brands use indigenous resources to create products which are uniquely Indian. ILK empowers over a dozen Indian artisans; they weave their stories and present beautiful, handcrafted creations. SNOB’s contemporary and sophisticated apparel also celebrates being Indian. The show culminated with a collection by RAINUSH by Govind Kumar Singh, and was presented by Ignite India, ensembled by blending Indian heritage with a contemporary twist. The show was style directed by Amit Pandya, high fashion stylist, model and ramp walk etiquette trainer.
