In a world where seven of the most valuable companies in the world are based on platform business models, the topic is relevant for business students now more than ever. Few online courses offer a pointed syllabus on platform models and as one of the chief guests of the event Mr. Suresh Sathyamurthy, CEO of Tarnea Technology Solutions mentioned, there is a shortage of guidebooks for entrepreneurs and professionals in the field seeking strategic perspectives. The MOOC and the book strive to fill these gaps and offer learners a range of information, case studies and pointed strategies to grow and leverage network effects and build successful platforms.
The launch event took place via Zoom with Professor Rishikesha Krishnan, Director of IIMB, releasing the book and Professor Vasanthi Srinivasan, Chairperson of Digital Learning at IIMB, declaring the MOOC live on the edX platform. Chief guests Suresh Sathyamurthy, CEO and co-founder of Tarnea Technology Solutions, and Pratap T.P., Co-founder of Qwikcilver and CMO at Woohoo, were both present and spoke about their experiences working with Professor Srinivasan on the MOOC and the book.
Professor Angela Roth and Post-doctoral fellow Dr. Tim Posselt from the Friedrich-Alexander University (FAU) in Germany were present. They spoke about the popularity of Professor Srinivasan's course on the same topic during his visiting period at FAU. This joint launch was a first for the IIMBx team and Springer Publications. It has opened up a new set of possibilities for bringing out complementary educational material.
