Professor A Damodaran’s interview on India’s strategy and action plan on the Madrid Protocol on Trade Marks carried in INTA Daily Newsletter

15 March, 2021, Bengaluru: An interview by Professor A Damodaran, faculty from the Economics & Social Sciences area, IIM Bangalore, has been carried in a section titled: ‘A Little Encouragement’ in the INTA Daily Newsletter.

During November 2019 Newton Media from the UK got in touch with Prof. Damodaran for an interview on India’s strategy and action plan to avail of the facilities offered by the Madrid Protocol on Trade Marks which India joined in 2013. “The idea was to carry the interview along with interviews by experts from a few countries like Brazil, Mexico, Thailand and Singapore in connection with the International Trade Marks Association’s Daily newsletter relating to the summit of the INTA in Singapore in 2020,” said Prof. Damodaran.

It is to be noted in this regard that the Government of India (GoI) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) had commissioned Prof. Damodaran to work on the action plan and he had submitted his report in March 2016 to the Govt of India. The report was accepted by the GoI and has been listed in the Ministry’s website.

Prof. Damodaran’s research areas cover Environmental Economics and Financing, Multilateral Treaty Negotiations and Institutional Dimensions of Global Public Goods andGlobal Environmental Resources, Cultural Economics and Blockchain, Cryptocurrencies and Distributed Network Technologies. He has several peer reviewed publications/booksin these domains.

He teaches the core courses of Micro/Managerial Economics and electives that include IPR for Business, Economics of Global Commons and Sustainable Development (EGCSD) and Cultural Economics and Policy.
