Prof. Pulak Ghosh appointed Member of Economic Advisory Council to PM of India

Faculty of Decision Sciences to bring data-driven insight and developmental focus to India’s apex economic policy forum
21 June, 2025, Bengaluru: Prof. Pulak Ghosh, faculty member in the Decision Sciences area at IIMB, has been appointed as a Member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister (EAC-PM) of India.
A Tech Statistician and Economist, Prof. Ghosh brings to the Council a distinct research orientation that seeks to apply digital intelligence toward questions of welfare, productivity and development in modern economies.
His interdisciplinary research studies the impact of artificial intelligence, big data, financial intermediaries, fintech, household finance, sustainability & ESG, and development economics on consumer behavior. His work has been frequently published in top-tier journals including the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Review of Financial Studies, Management Science, Science Advances, Journal of the American Statistical Association, and Biometrika, and cited by institutions such as the World Bank, various departments of Government of India, Reserve Bank of India as well as various industry reports.
His ongoing policy engagement through advisory roles with NITI Aayog and other high-level government bodies further reflects his sustained practical contributions to national policy discourse.
