Securities and Exchange Board of India appoints Prof. V. Ravi Anshuman to head 16-member panel
21 June, 2022, Bengaluru: The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the regulatory body for India’s securities and commodity market under the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, has recently reconstituted its research advisory committee, which is in charge of promotion, development and maintenance of databases necessary for capital market regulation research. This 16-member panel will be headed by Professor V. Ravi Anshuman, Chairperson and faculty, Finance & Accounting, IIM Bangalore.
As per an update from SEBI, the other members of the panel are: H K Pradhan, Professor of Finance & Economics, Xavier School of Management (XLRI); Madan Sabnavis, Chief Economist, Bank of Baroda; Sudhir Bassi, Executive Director, Khaitan & Co, and Pawan Agrawal, Chief Risk Officer, CRISIL.
It is interesting to note that in June 2019, Prof. Ravi Anshuman was appointed a part-time member in SEBI, for a period of three years, as per an order issued by the Ministry of Personnel.
IIMB faculty are not only outstanding scholars, many of them have also been on the statutory and advisory boards of leading companies, start-ups, non-profits and educational institutions. Both Central and State governments have benefited from their expertise in formulating and reviewing public policy.
Prof. V Ravi Anshuman has a PhD in Finance from the University of Utah, USA. His research interests cover the areas of Market Microstructure, Capital Markets and Corporate Financial Management Issues in Emerging Markets. His publications have appeared in the Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Financial Markets, etc. He has co-authored a book titled, ‘Valuation – Analysing Global Investment Opportunities’. He has held academic positions at Boston College and visiting academic positions at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Indian School of Business and University of Texas at Austin.
